As mentioned, riding a Segway is a rare experience for most, so the vast majority of our guests are first-timers. That is exactly why our experienced instructors provide a thorough safety briefing and step-by-step operation guidance at the start of every tour. We won’t set off until everyone has practiced and feels comfortable on their Segway—so you can relax and enjoy the ride!
Unlike standard Segways, we use specialized off-road models. These are designed to glide over sandy terrain without getting stuck or losing steering control. And in the unlikely event that you do lose your balance, the soft sand provides a much safer landing than pavement.
Safety Gear Provided:
We provide both the Segway and a safety helmet on-site, ensuring you are fully equipped for a secure and worry-free adventure.
Don’t worry about a little rain! We provide complimentary ponchos for all guests, so you can enjoy the tour comfortably.
Rain Policy
We understand it’s disappointing when outdoor activities are cancelled due to rain. To make the most of your trip, the Tottori Sand Dunes Segway Tour provides free poncho rentals for all participants during light rain. Since your hands are needed to steer the Segway, holding an umbrella isn’t possible—making our complimentary ponchos a handy lifesaver!

Please follow all instructions provided by your guide at all times for your safety.
Safety Termination Policy:
For the safety of all participants and pedestrians, we reserve the right to terminate the tour immediately if any dangerous or self-centered riding is observed, or if your actions cause a nuisance or danger to others.
Compliance with Nature Conservation Laws:
We operate in strict accordance with the Natural Parks Act. Riding into “Special Protection Areas” or “Vehicle-Restricted Areas” is strictly prohibited.
Weather Policy
The tour will proceed in light rain. However, depending on weather conditions, we may cancel the tour—even after it has started—to prioritize the safety of our participants. Thank you for your understanding.
For your safety, individuals meeting any of the following conditions may not participate in the tour:
Health Conditions:
Those with difficulty walking independently.
Those with high blood pressure, or heart, spinal, or neck conditions.
Those with epilepsy, hyperventilation, hearing or visual impairments.
Those with any symptoms that may be aggravated by participation.
Pregnancy: Those who are pregnant or may be pregnant.
Medical Devices: Those using a pacemaker.
Alcohol:
Individuals under the influence of alcohol.
Weight Restrictions:
Standard Range: Approx. 45kg to 100kg.
Maximum Weight: Those exceeding 100kg cannot participate.
Note: Participants weighing over 95kg must have prior Segway tour experience.
Skill Assessment:
Even if all other criteria are met, the organizer reserves the right to cancel your participation if the instructor determines that your riding skill during the initial training session is insufficient to ensure a safe tour.
Medical Certificate:
Depending on your health status or age, we may require a medical certificate even if the above conditions do not apply.
